Competition Bons

The Forms We Compete With

Competition bons showcase the rigorous training, discipline, and technical proficiency required to compete in sanctioned Martial Arts Federation for World Peace USA tournaments.

Sawi Gidae Eui Bon

"Four Position Foundation" — a foundational Martial Arts Federation for World Peace form practiced from the earlier ranks and performed in competition.

Sunghwa Eui Bon

"Harmonious Youth" — a dynamic form combining kicking techniques, the jumping punch, and combinations such as the tornado kick.

MAFWP Bon

The art's own form curriculum, taught through the official video manual — uniting hard, linear and soft, circular elements.

One-Step Sparring

Prearranged partner sequences training timing, distance, and control — the bridge between forms and free sparring.

Circular Techniques & Grappling

Basic circular techniques, chokes, locks, and groundwork — the unified art's soft-style inheritance, taught from the video manual curriculum.

Warm-Up & Meditation

The Unified Warming-Up System and meditation practice — preparing body and spirit before technique begins.

배움 Student Learning

What Every Student Learns

The essential teachings of MAFWP, gathered in one place — open any topic to explore it.

The Basic Tenets — a student's pledge
  1. I pledge to be filial and loyal to my Parents.
  2. I pledge to be loyal to my country.
  3. I pledge to take care of and love my brothers and sisters.
  4. I pledge to make sincere efforts to achieve unity between mind and body.
  5. I pledge to overcome every difficulty by endurance.
  6. I pledge to be courageous and bold for the cause of righteousness.
  7. I pledge to fight against injustice with an indomitable spirit.
Beneficial features of training
  1. Based on Divine Principle, it gives trainees healthy physical training and helps them develop a healthy character.
  2. It is comprehensive and systematic — unified warming-up exercises, forms of circular and straight moves, free training, self-defense, and weapon techniques.
  3. Practicing the comprehensive techniques builds a healthy and fit body.
  4. The harmony of various techniques promotes a sense of beauty and the arts.
  5. It is interesting and attractive — learned by male and female, young and old alike.
Conduct & rules of the Dojang

All students uphold the honor of the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace: its techniques are never used to provoke or challenge the innocent — only to protect the weak, or oneself, in a righteous cause. "Do" means the Way; "jang" means a room: the Dojang is the room to seek the Way — a training hall for the spirit.

  1. Before entering the Dojang, remove your shoes.
  2. Bow upon entering or leaving the Dojang.
  3. Obey the instructor and follow their words earnestly.
  4. All joking and horseplay cease upon entering the Dojang.
  5. While seated, keep proper posture — no leaning on walls or outstretched feet.
  6. Remove all rings and jewelry before practice, for everyone's safety.
  7. Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
Ethics — the Principle of Harmony

Ethics in the Dojang reflect the orderly relationships of a family: every position is respected, elders in the Way care for their juniors, and juniors cultivate humility — all striving for loyalty and filial piety. Though the Way of Harmony has a sportive aspect, the Way itself is not sport: the perfection of defensive skill serves the perfection of ethical virtue.

Meditation — before and after every class

Every class opens and closes with three minutes of meditation — kneeling toward the front of the dojang, back straight, head slightly bowed, eyes closed, hands resting on the thighs. Breathing evenly, the student brings heart, thought, and action into focus, meditating on the purpose, objectives, or tenets of the Martial Arts Federation for World Peace.

This quiet moment anchors each student's motivation in the spirit of truth, beauty, and goodness — often accompanied by a brief inspirational message from the instructor, received attentively at the opening and closing of training.
